DATE SELECTION
Selecting a date for a major event to go smoothly with as little hindrances as possible, has been practiced for hundreds of years in many cultures most profusely by the Chinese, Koreans, Japanese and Indians from Asia. Many of these cultures choose a good day for important events in their lives.
Date Selection can be used for:
- Getting married
- Moving to a new home
- Opening a business
- Opening an exhibition
- Ground breaking for a major construction
- Start renovations
- Re-opening a business after Chinese New Year
- Proposal
- Getting engaged
- Caesarean time
- Moving desks
- Moving bed
- Anything that you feel that you may need some Divine support…
It is believed in planning such a date, all events will go smoothly and may bring in good fortune.
Choosing a good date is not easy as it sounds as there are many considerations to be taken into account.
Primarily the Year of Birth of the person participating and the Year, Month and Day have to be taken into account. In the case of marriage the partner’s date of birth also has to be considered for all things to go smoothly. Sometimes the Hour has to be checked as well.
The whole process is based on the Chinese Solar Calendar where the Year, Month, Day and Hour are assigned 1 of the Chinese Zodiac Animal signs. Each of this Animal sign assigned an element and not all of these ‘Animals’ get on well together, as sometimes they have a conflict with another as per the chart below.
As it is widely known in the Chinese culture every Lunar New Year a new Zodiac Animal Sign rules the Year. In Date Selection however the Solar New Year is used and it starts on 4th February of each year with the same new Zodiac Animal as the Chinese Lunar Year.
In Chinese Astrology the following Zodiac animals have a conflict with one of the other 11 signs, the proper term is called “clash”.

Year 2021 was the Year of the Ox. The Ox clashes with the Goat so people born under the Year of the Goat will usually experience a Year full of ups and downs in various aspects of their lives. So it would not be ideal for a person born in a Goat year to get married as events or even their marriage will not be smooth. People born in the Year of the Ox though may be protected by the “Grand Duke” a mythical General Protector of the Year.
In 2022 will be the Year of the Tiger, so people born in the Monkey Year (1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016) they will have a slightly more challenging year.
Apart from conflicting days, there is a list of days that are not suitable for certain events, including days that conflict the Year or the Month or the Day. Then there are specific days where auxiliary stars are very negative. Then there are auspicious days for specific activities, like marriage, moving home, launching a business, even good days to trade and the list goes on.
The whole method is a process of elimination which must include the Year and Day of Birth of those involved in addition to the others. Even days before the 2 solstices and 2 equinoxes are considered inauspicious; the 3 San Shas which is translated as 3 Killings Days and the list goes on. Depending on whether it is personal or for renovations, the Flying Stars are also looked at.
After all these, then we look at Days which are auspicious from 28 Constellations, Dong Gong System trying to find the most auspicious date and find one good that may be auspicious on all systems and also supports the client. Sometimes it cannot be found within a certain period then the least negative will be selected.
Life is hard enough with its ups and downs, so by choosing a good day to start something new, some of the negativity may be overcome.
Select Date to mitigate bad luck
Every year there are certain directions that one is not allowed to knock, dig, or create certain activity. Some people inadvertently do something negatively and suddenly bad luck befalls them, manifesting in health issues or wealth issues. Selecting a good date to try and mitigate this can be done.
